How do you take a picture and breathe life into it? Magic. That's how. Which makes Dave the consummate magician - a master of the illusion with a passion for creating characters with a freshness and appeal that is loved by clients and consumers alike.
With a strong background in fine art, based on an outstanding performance at the National School of Arts, Dave attended the Vega School in Johannesburg, where he learned the skills and nuances that allowed him to apply his artistic talents to the world of advertising.
After several years working as (amongst others) a commercial artist, illustrator, motion graphics designer, supervising animator and something called a "PVC welder", Dave has honed his skills on a wide range of projects for clients including MTN and The Core Group. He has also earned himself a place in a course at Gobelins l'Ecole de l'Image in France, where he will be learning from the world's leading animators, designers and motion graphics specialists.
With limitless talent and enthusiasm, Dave will certainly return even more magic to bring to the Aces Up team.

Ed Van Blerk - animator
Ed started his career in the advertising industry doing DTP and design work after which he joined one of the country’s leading agencies where he assisted in setting up its multi-media department where way back then he worked on South Africa’s Football World Cup bid. Ed’s drive to find challenging assignments led him to part-time lecturing in design, animation and multi-media. After that he spent the next few years working for a small animation company as a senior compositor working predominantly on TV commercials, in 2008 he founded another animation company with a few friends.
Gigh Zack - animator
Gigh Zack, a lover of echo's, shadows and pixels amongst a myriad of other things that can't be seen - came to aces-up shortly after converting to the technology-crazed role of animator. Having dabbled in the mysterious art form as a student (and winning a few awards, not being too smug) he was deceived at his graduation ceremony by a dark robed figure offering him riches for only a few short years of his life.
Luckily he was saved by the choices of men far more powerful than himself, men from Autodesk and Adobe and even Apple, and is now safely on the path to greatness.
